One of the worthiest values of Scarlet is, it could perhaps be the last and only camera many of us buy, if it lives up perceived and promotional expectations. I've owned an EX1, GH1 and now a GH2. I've put my AF100 on pause after the announcement. If Scarlet lives up to the billing, at an 8K (?) sacrifice investment, it would be the last purchase for many at least until an investment of this type pays for itself or allows us to move towards an upgrade.
Anyway, this is it, what think you? |

I don't think so. My bet is you'll upgrade or buy something else within 5 years.

the answer to that question surely hangs on what Scarlet turns out to be....
At a guess though, I'd say that the case is likely to be that Scarlet will offer many a far longer window before their next investment. Honestly, if you're even reasonably successful with any camera in this price bracket you should do pretty well with it. If you don't it's either because your underselling you're yourself, or... |

I've kept my Bolex H16 Reflex and a Double 8 Bolex. Every other camera I've sold. For me a camera has to have something special about it. After waiting 3 years I can't see not keeping the Scarlet. Unless there is some kind of upgrade trade-in program

heh... Scarlet may be the gateway drug for Epic! I just hope that Scarlet opens doors that allow me to afford an Epic!

Thats what I thought, and that was my point! Many of us are low-budget professionals hoping to score big with a project that will allow us to move forward with additional gear and accessories.
