Just wanted to let you know that I thought it was really great. Very powerful message, but simple which I like a lot in shorts.

I also thought it looked really nice. Congrats to you and the crew.

As I said in your IM conversation, your film is beautiful, makes sense, and kept my attention throughout...

Awesome

Well, it makes sense for most people. I am really surprised to how many different ways people have interpreted this short, and am really happy that it has moved several.

Nice little short. I love it when people come up with creative stuff like that on such a time constraint. Did you have any required elements to include? Did you guys write it during the time as well?

I'm re-editing my 48 hour film right now. An extra day of editing sure can change things a lot.

Thanks!

We had to include 3 of 7 security elements:

1. Sunrise
2. $100 bill
3. Binoculars (or spyglass)
4. Disguise (could include fake mustache, monster mask, etc.)
5. Dutch angle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_angle)
6. Line: “You’re holding it in your hand.”
7. Line: “I forgive you.”

We used all of them, but a few were cut during the editing stage. We had to fit everything into 3 minutes, making it very difficult to tell this story in a way that people wouldn't be entirely baffled at the end.

The sunrise added to the performance and with the dutch angle, we wanted to make a specific purpose for using it rather than just using it because it was a security element (I think it turned out pretty cool).

We had a creative meeting on the Tuesday before our competition and chose out of 6 ideas, "Leave Me". We rewrote the screenplay that Friday to adjust accordingly to the security elements (which was legal according the official rules).

It was Easter weekend and our composer was so busy playing for a wedding, taking kids to an egg hunt, and never got a chance to see the film til after the competition was over. She only read the screenplay and took a bit of guidance from Ryan Dunlap, founder of Daros Films.

It was a wild ride, one I will never forget and SOOO much fun.

We just got notified that we were accepted by the Mammoth Film Festival (Mammoth Lakes, California).

Congratulations! Your film, Leave Me, has been accepted into the 2009 Mammoth Film Festival. Of the hundreds of film submissions we receive from around the world, your film stood out based on its exceptional creativity and quality. We commend all your hard work, and invite you to immediately begin referring to your film as an "Official Selection" of the 2009 Mammoth Film Festival.

Both film festivals that have accepted us earlier in the year were favorable and gave us 1st place.

Here's hoping to us doing just as well in this one...
