I think both holding creative merit. But I was also thinking of the creative use of something like the RGB LED DMX lighiting used in stage setups, and they are more adaptable and brighter than video products, here is some examples.

All the lighting is 4 colour LED, and with most of it having DMX total, so you can dial up colours and do flash effects and washs on the fly, on even perfectly timed lighting effects.
